About Us

Welcome to the Herring Cove Counselling Centre

At the heart of this Centre is a group of passionate individuals dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve. We are a collective of Registered Counselling Therapists and Registered Counselling Therapist-Candidates (RCT-C), and Social Workers who hold Master's degrees in Counselling, Social Work, and/or Psychology. We're proud to be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT) or the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW), and are committed to upholding the highest standards of care and ethical practices. We are not just a team of therapists; we’re a group of compassionate professionals who are here to support and empower you on your journey. We invite you to get to know us better and discover the caring community that is ready to stand by your side every step of the way.

What We Stand For

The NSCCT defines counselling therapy as the art of assisting clients in their journey towards mental, emotional, physical, social, moral, educational, spiritual, and career development across their lifespan. This, in essence, is the cornerstone of our work. We employ a variety of mental health and human development principles, methods, and techniques to assist our clients.

Our Team

Our practitioners come from various backgrounds, bringing with them a wealth of both professional and personal life experiences. This unique blend of knowledge and understanding allows us to connect with our clients on a deeper level.

Embracing Diversity and Inclusion

We hold a deep appreciation for the value of diversity and equality. Our mission is to provide accessible and inclusive counselling services to all, irrespective of race, ethnicity, culture, class, age, abilities, neurodiversity, sexual orientation, gender identities, religion, and beliefs. We aim to create a warm and welcoming environment where every individual feels respected and understood.

“It’s easy to love the nice things about ourselves but true self-love is embracing the difficult parts that live in all of us - acceptance.”

~ Rupi Kaur, Canadian Poet
